Mark Alan Prater, deputy staff director and chief tax counsel - minority staff of the Senate Finance Committee of the United States Senate. In addition to his current position, Mr. Prater has served as chief tax counsel for either the majority or minority staff (depending on whether the Republican Party was in the majority or minority in the Senate) since 1993, and has served in the position of tax counsel to the Senate Finance Committee since 1990.
The Section will also elect new officers for 2009-2010.
The luncheon is open to all interested individuals while space is available. A $50.00 per person registration fee covers the cost of the luncheon, including tax and gratuity. Law students are invited to attend at a reduced fee of $40.00. Firms wishing to purchase a table for the event may do so for $400 for a table of eight or $500 for a table of ten.

The Tax Law Section provides current information on federal and state tax issues that directly affect practitioners in Washington. It gives new attorneys with an interest in tax law an opportunity to meet and discuss mutual areas of concern with established practitioners. The Section assists in proposing and commenting on legislation and administrative rules affecting federal and state tax practice. Through its web site, the Section provides practical, up-to-date information regarding the Section's committees and activities and other tax resources.
